We will never be able to do God’s will until we open up our hearts and submit to Him. We need to open up our hearts and ask the Lord to use us in a way that pleases Him. The world is a very tough place for this to be achieved, but I believe that through the help of Jesus Christ our savior, it is possible to do so. If all that we seek is to please the Lord and seek what pleases Him, then this will forever be possible, because we have a high priest who has been where we are at. If we want to be able to do what pleases the Lord, then we ought to have a submissive heart, a heart that is always seeking to please and glorify God. We will never be able to please God if all that we are looking for is to please our own desires. The life we are living down here on earth is shorter than the life that is ahead of us. During our life time on earth, we should always seek the perfect will of God and be submissive to it as Christ was. If all that we seek is to please God, then let us all pray so that the Lord can give us a submissive heart, because without it we will never be able to please Him. Christ was able to please His father because of his submissive heart to the father’s will. If we are hears of God and co-hears with Christ, we should also seek this kind of submissive heart.
When I talk about a submissive heart, I mean a heart that lives under God’s authority, a heart that is ready to do what the Lord requires, and a heart that has received the grace that God has freely given. A submissive heart is a heart that is ready to receive all that God has in store. A submissive heart is a heart that is ready to give God the glory in everything it goes through. A heart that is ready to accomplish what the Lord wants accomplishing through us. A heart that is ready to remain faithful in all circumstances. A heart that desires for others to come to know the Love of God through Christ is a heart we should all desire to have. A heart that seeks not its own desires, but the one and true will of God that opens us to our true destiny. James and Job both tell us a great deal about the true meaning of submission to the will of God.
In our study of Jesus' model prayer of Matthew chapter six, we next come to the phrase, "Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." Let me suggest that an appropriate theme or key-word for this phrase of the prayer is submission.
This is the heart we all need, a heart that is always seeking to please the Lord and bring Him glory. Therefore, I argue you brothers by the mercies of our Lord Jesus Christ; let us ask God to bless us with a submissive heart. A heart that is forever abided in the fathers love. I pray that you and I will find this kind of heart to make the world a better place for each of us to live in.
