Becoming the VIP leader in the Christian Community

So what does it mean to be the VIP leader in the church or any other Christian community? Many of us would like to be that kind of leader who everyone wishes to follow, but how can we become that VIP leader? Well, let me tell you this, the question can be very simply answered by the letters VIP itself, so for today let I and you take a deep look at this VIP especially when it comes to church leadership. Do we want to be that VIP Leader that everyone wishes to follow? Bear this in mind, God is the center of everything that we intend to do, so once I answer this question for you just remember that God is still the center of all this. Pride should not take over our humble hearts, being humble should be one of the characters that a VIP leader possesses.

So before we go any deeper, let us look at what the three letters stand for when it comes to being that leader…. These are the key characters the VIP leader should inhabit, but we should remember that they all come through God’s grace, especially when we have desire to seek Him first. If we desire God then we will be the kind of leaders who posses these key factors. These key factors are reflected when we have reflected Christ so much. So here we go….

a)   V- Vision

b)  I- Integrity

c)  P- Patience

So you can see that a VIP leader has a Vision to where he/she is heading or leading his people to, he/she also has integrity, and finally he/she has patience. A leader possessing this characters is the kind of leader I call the VIP leader when it comes to Christ centered leadership. These are the characters we desire for each leader as a Christian to possess. I know that you would love to get to know what they mean in a deeper perspective, so let’s take a look at each one of these characters and see what they mean to us as those leaders who want to be in the VIP group that everyone desires to follow.

A. Vision – Vision is a projection of your life. Vision has always been considered an important component in leadership, both in Christian and secular circles. The term usually refers to the ability leaders have to form a plan for the future and to get others excited about their plan. Often, leaders have less a plan, but more of a simple picture of a possible future, and let people sort out the action steps toward that more general picture. Goals are an important part of getting what you want out of life. As a Christian leader looking into leading God’s people, you have got to have a vision. Thanks to our Lord and master Jesus Christ who has helped us to see the vision, He has made our task easier than ever by being the way, the truth, and the life or job is to leader others to him. As a Christian leader you have got to see your vision through Jesus and help others to see this as well. The importance of having a vision as a Christian leader is so that you know why you're doing what you do, and you're happier doing it. As a Christian leader you should definitely ask God to give you a vision for any individual with whom you work, not to mention for your group as well. So there you go, now you can see how Vision is important if you want to be that VIP leader in your Christian community. In a ministry a shared vision changes people's relationship to one another. When a leader casts a vision in a church, it is no longer "their church," it becomes "our church." The ministry's vision encourages and allows people to come together and work together. Visions are exciting and they energize people. They strike a spark—the excitement that lifts a ministry organization out of the mundane. They supply the fuel that lights the fire under a congregation—leaders are able to stop putting out fires and start igniting a few. God’s people want to follow someone with a clear vision, and your vision should be that which seeks to glorify God, and not your own pride.  As Christian leader, have a vision that is clear, define it to your followers, let help them see the big picture. A leader without a Vision won’t know where God is. As leaders called for God, let us build a life that has a vision, because without vision people don’t know where to go.

B. Integrity – Integrity means you see what you get, and you get what you see. God’s people are to be honest to others as well as to themselves; this is a very important key factor if you want to be that VIP leader in your Christian Community. As a Christian leader you have got to hold on to moral standards even when things seem to be so tough. An integrity leader possesses characters such as those mentioned in Galatians 5:22-25 (the fruits of the spirit and those who have been crucified with Christ Jesus). The Christian command to integrity is a command to both talk and walk in the way of Jesus. If others want to be like Jesus, then we as leasers leading them have got to posses the characters that Christ has desired for us to possess. A leader with integrity is more likely to put others first, before themselves, this kind of leader is more than willing to extend compassion as Christ did. A Christian leader with integrity is a leader whose life is marked by love, compassion, mercy, justice, and honoring God's call above everything else. So if we are in any position looking into being that kind of a leader who others see as VIP, let us seek God to bless us with integrity to leader others to Him and for Him.

Philippians 2:3 “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than you”

Matthew 20:26 "It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant”

Proverbs 16:12 “It is an abomination for kings to commit wicked acts, For a throne is established on righteousness.”

C. Patience - The last attribute of the VIP leader for today is patience. A VIP Leader in Christ must possess this character in order to be able to deal with all sorts of circumstances. This means, being patience with others, having patience to go over the barriers. Being patience with everything, and being ready to wait (James 5:7). A VIP Christian leader understands that they shouldn’t complain over everything, but rather learn to be patient with everything; this is revealed in the character of Job in the Bible. Job said God is full of compassion and blessings, as Christian leaders who wants to be the VIP, we need to see God as Job did. Jesus was very patient with his disciples. They were sometimes thickheaded, lazy, selfish, and slow to believe, but Christ was patient with them. In spite of their vice and thick-headedness, he remained no less committed to them and served them increasingly as their failures became more outstanding. A Christian leader should inherit such patience as that found in Jesus. Being patient will help us to become the leaders God wants His people to be led by. Patient is one of the keys to God’s Peace and rest.

Psalm 37:7 “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices.”

James 5:7-8 “Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains.  You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.”

Revelation 14:12 “Here is a call for the patience of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.”

Romans 15:4-5 “For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus.”

I hope that I have shared with you all that I needed to share with you today. I want you to take these above mentioned characters really serious if you are looking into being a VIP Leader for the church of Christ. I want you to examine yourself if posses them, if you do then let us all praise the Lord, but if you don’t, then seek God to bless you with them. Remember, if you want to be a VIP leader, you have got to have a Vision, Integrity, and Patience to leader God’s People. Look at Moses and the children of Israel, and then reflect on that. May the living father in heaven bless you with these characters so that you can serve Him more and more in love and compassion. There were the attributes of the VIP Leader in the Christian Community.

Should Your Religion Be Based On Your Feelings? Here is the answer..

Should a person decide what to believe based on his or her feelings or something that does not change with moods and circumstances? Big question! Imagine Jesus of Nazareth nailed up on the cross, dying for our sins. Suppose He said, “This is not fun. I am not feeling anything good up here. Let me off this cross. I expected good feelings, not this! Pain is not where it is at for Me. My commitment to die to pay the penalty for man’s sin is far beyond what I am feeling right now.” How would you have counseled Jesus when the bad pain hit Him? Feelings based religion is shaky. Commitments based on good feelings are subject to change any day. This unbiblical approach would make all our commitments very tentative, unpredictable, shaky. This includes: marriage, family, job and friends. A marriage vow would only mean, “I’ll stay with you as long as my good feelings last. I expect only good times, no bad ones.” Jesus did not bail out when the going got tough. Some beliefs a Christian should also...

The second necessary step in designing a successful nonprofit strategy is knowing your beneficiaries

Last week I started a series of blog posts on building a strong and successful strategy for your nonprofit and I started with mentioning the first necessary step you will need to examine before kicking off with your strategy. If you haven’t read that post, I recommend that you visit the article HERE before continuing with this one. Having familiarity with the first article will help you understand this one even much better. This week we are looking at the second step to take when designing your nonprofit strategy, and that step in designing and building a strong and successful strategy for your nonprofit is clearly knowing, stating, and understanding who your beneficiaries are. Some organizations talk about beneficiaries, others refer to participants, others to clients, service users or partners. Here we will refer to beneficiaries as the people whom your nonprofit seeks to benefit. The reason why many nonprofit strategies fail is because too often nonprofits and funders ignore the con...

Being set free by the master who holds the keys to life

After Jesus died on the cross He went down to hell, crushed the devil, and took the keys of life. The devil held us prisoners to fear of death, but now we are given the chance to enjoy eternal life with God the father. The greatest gift the human race can ever earn. It’s all free of charge to be set free, for the master has promised to do this free of charge to all those who desire to be free. If you have not yet accepted Christ, then you are still in a prison cell and you need to be freed from this. The only way that can happen is if you humble yourself and come to the master who has the keys to set you free. If you are in the devils prison, you can’t save yourself, not matter how good you think you are in escaping. You will never be able to escape until you let the master who took the keys set you free. You will try million ways and times, but I assure you, you will never succeed on your own. Many of you may say ‘well I am free’, I can assure you that you are only free in the flesh; ...
