The hope that can be found in the midst of death

Yesterday I was at the hospital and just in front of my eyes I witnessed someone dying. As I watched, the doctor and nurses tried their best to secure this person’s life, but at the final hour the person passed out and died. Being a doctor can sometimes be a very frustrating job, because it’s true that, at one time in your life, saving a person’s life is always going to fail. No matter how hard the doctor tries to add on or buy us sometime to life, the terror of death will always come about. There will be a time when the doctor will have to let that soul fly back to its founder. We might love going to hospitals to be treated and try to stay in a good shape, yet we always have to be reminded that old age and death is just around the corner. No matter how hard we fight to stay alive, one day we will have to face death, and that will be the time we stop living on this earth.

My greatest fear as I watched this incident was not of that person dying right there, but my fear was on whom was he dying with. Who was he crossing that bridge to the next life with? Where had he placed his hope? I could see as he tried so hard to grasp onto that last breath how each one of us wants a second chance in life. There are people out there who don’t believe in life after death, but as for me, I believe that there is life after death and I know for sure whom I will be crossing that bridge with. There is a second chance in life, but to get that chance, a choice has to be made, and there are things we must be willing to sacrifice to reach that eternal kingdom.

I am writing this post so that those who read it can be aware that one day they will have to face death, and I want you and me to be well prepared when that time comes. I have no means of putting fear of death in anyone’s life, I just want people to face death with courage and hope for the future. There use to be times when I use to fear death, but when I came to know and learn about Christ, I no longer fear death or sickness. I am ready to face death with courage because I have hope for the future. Christ is my hope. Death and the decay of our bodies on this earth is unavoidable, but with Christ we have the courage to ask "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" as stated 1 Corinthians 15:55. I no longer have to fear death, because Christ has won it all for me.  Christ experienced death and came back to life, therefore, this gives me hope in my highest priest. I believe that after death God will raise me up through the same power which He raise Christ up with, as He has promised through His word in 1 Corinthians 6:14 ‘’ By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also’’. If you have not yet made up your mind on believing in Christ, then it will be really difficult for you to experience this hope. Through Christ we have hope for a new life. If we live without Christ, then our lives have no hope for the future. Without Christ we die in vain. Without Christ, we face death with fear, because we do not have the map to where we are heading to. We have no one to walk us through that process of death. But with Christ we have hope in an everlasting life, why! Because Jesus said He is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). He is the map to life eternity. If we believe in Christ, we know for sure that He is the way to God’s eternal kingdom, He is the truth about God and how life should be conducted, He leads us to life in the father.

I have asked so many people this question, to what extent do they feared death?  You won’t believe this, even the sound of the word death itself, brings terror in their lives. They don’t want to hear you telling them about it. Most of them wish they never knew what the word meant, but believe it or not, we all are going to have to face it one day in life.  For it is very clear in Psalm 89:48 ‘’who can live and not see death, or who can escape the power of the grave?’’ It’s clear that we all are going to face death at some point in our life.  It’s also clear that neither the doctors or ourselves can save us from death because ‘’ As no one has power over the wind to contain it, so no one has power over the time of their death. As no one is discharged in time of war, so wickedness will not release those who practice it’’ Ecclesiastes 8:8. Again, death and the decay of our bodies are unavoidable without Hope in Christ Jesus. Death without Hope in Jesus brings terror, but death with Hope in Christ brings victory. Once we know for sure we are in Christ, we have no reason to fear death, because we know for sure that there is victory in the midst of death. We know there is eternal life after death, but this life comes only through believing in Jesus Christ alone. Death could not hold Christ down, neither can it hold those who believe in Him down ‘’ But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him’’ Acts 2:24. If we believe in Christ, there is hope for a better and restful life in God’s eternal kingdom.

Therefore, now as we face death, let us find victory in it. Let us make that choice to trust and believe in Christ, for only through Him hope for a new life is found. There is no other place where hope is found apart from Christ. You can choose to die with an empty soul, or die with courage and hope in Christ Jesus. Christ has promised to be with us through it all ‘’ Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:20.  He will be there even as you pass through the process of death; He will carry you to the other side where life is abundantly and full. It’s about that time you die with courage and hope. Death is approaching so be well prepared to face it. Face death with courage in Christ Jesus for a new life. We have the answer in Jesus Christ who conquered death for us on the Cross. He is the hope of this dying world.

Jesus said, "I go and prepare a place FOR YOU." (John 14:1-6). When time comes Jesus will come to take us back home to where we belong.

Because of His love, I am a secured package

Should Your Religion Be Based On Your Feelings? Here is the answer..

Should a person decide what to believe based on his or her feelings or something that does not change with moods and circumstances? Big question! Imagine Jesus of Nazareth nailed up on the cross, dying for our sins. Suppose He said, “This is not fun. I am not feeling anything good up here. Let me off this cross. I expected good feelings, not this! Pain is not where it is at for Me. My commitment to die to pay the penalty for man’s sin is far beyond what I am feeling right now.” How would you have counseled Jesus when the bad pain hit Him? Feelings based religion is shaky. Commitments based on good feelings are subject to change any day. This unbiblical approach would make all our commitments very tentative, unpredictable, shaky. This includes: marriage, family, job and friends. A marriage vow would only mean, “I’ll stay with you as long as my good feelings last. I expect only good times, no bad ones.” Jesus did not bail out when the going got tough. Some beliefs a Christian should also...

The second necessary step in designing a successful nonprofit strategy is knowing your beneficiaries

Last week I started a series of blog posts on building a strong and successful strategy for your nonprofit and I started with mentioning the first necessary step you will need to examine before kicking off with your strategy. If you haven’t read that post, I recommend that you visit the article HERE before continuing with this one. Having familiarity with the first article will help you understand this one even much better. This week we are looking at the second step to take when designing your nonprofit strategy, and that step in designing and building a strong and successful strategy for your nonprofit is clearly knowing, stating, and understanding who your beneficiaries are. Some organizations talk about beneficiaries, others refer to participants, others to clients, service users or partners. Here we will refer to beneficiaries as the people whom your nonprofit seeks to benefit. The reason why many nonprofit strategies fail is because too often nonprofits and funders ignore the con...

Being set free by the master who holds the keys to life

After Jesus died on the cross He went down to hell, crushed the devil, and took the keys of life. The devil held us prisoners to fear of death, but now we are given the chance to enjoy eternal life with God the father. The greatest gift the human race can ever earn. It’s all free of charge to be set free, for the master has promised to do this free of charge to all those who desire to be free. If you have not yet accepted Christ, then you are still in a prison cell and you need to be freed from this. The only way that can happen is if you humble yourself and come to the master who has the keys to set you free. If you are in the devils prison, you can’t save yourself, not matter how good you think you are in escaping. You will never be able to escape until you let the master who took the keys set you free. You will try million ways and times, but I assure you, you will never succeed on your own. Many of you may say ‘well I am free’, I can assure you that you are only free in the flesh; ...
