Seriously I believe that some sins are committed on purpose, and this is because we fail to read and stay committed to God’s word. If there is any chance to keep away from evil is by keeping God’s word in our hearts. Even Christ won evil by keeping His father’s word in His hearts and if we are His true followers, we are to do the same in order to overcome the devil and His tricky temptations. You and I are to keep God’s word in our hearts to overcome evil. This is clearly illustrated by David in
Psalm 119:11(NIV)
"I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you."
Studying the word of God is an important thing to you and me as a Christians. The reasons why this is one great duty and practices for the Christians are two: first, that we may have it ready for our use. Second, when you are alone and without outward helps, your hearts will furnish you with matters of counsel, or comfort, or reproof: “My reins instruct me in the night season” (Psa. 16:7). David knew how important it was to keep God’s word in His hearts, so should we. We need to keep God’s word in our heart so that we may keep away from evil. The benefit of keeping God’s word in our heart is that whenever temptations come around, His word reminds us and gives us the power to overcome it before we actually sin. When kept in our hearts, the word of God actually teaches us the right from the wrong and anytime Satan tries to tempt us into sin we are able to repeat and so the will of God. The Word of God makes us aware of sin and keeps us from sliding down a slippery slope. It doesn’t mean we will never fail, but we won’t continue to slide down. Like Peter, we will rise up victorious over failure. After denying Christ, he ministered with power on the day of Pentecost. The Bible will keep you from sin as sin will keep you from the Bible. The duty of God’s children is to hide His Word in their hearts, and in so doing there must be a right end; their knowledge of it and delight in it is to be directed to practice. God honors and is committed to blessing those who respect and love His precious Word. So it is up to you and me to keep God’s word in our hearts as we walk the journey of faith.
The word of God benefits our hearts in many forms
It becomes a supply to us when we kneel to pray, it is a great help to us in conducting our affairs, it is a great relief against temptations, it is a great relief in afflictions. So let us learn to enjoy and keep God’s word in our hearts so we can achieve God’s gift of eternal life with Him.
I hope that this shines a light on your heart today.
Because of His love on Calvary, I am forever a secured package
