The best way to express a renewed and forever growing love toward your spouse

Imagine this, you’ve been married for almost 10 years, you wake up every morning, looking at the person sleeping next to you, you realize that as years pass by your love for that person continues to grow each day. Though you tell them how much you love and care for them, still you can’t find the right words to describe it perfectly, or ways to express it. What do you do to express your feelings and commitment to them?

Well, I am sure we have more than thousand ideas on how we could nail that haven’t we! Some will say, on your way home down the road, buy her a rose, knock on her door and surprise her. How about surprising them by getting that one thing they’ve been wishing for! Ooh, wait a minute, how about taking them out for a wonderful meal at that restaurant they’ve been talking about!  If you don’t think the restaurant idea is great, how about your own cooking ha! How about a hug while they are cooking dinner, or an unexpected kiss. How about romantic gestures and sexual expressions of desire, your desire for their company? Trust me, all the above are good ways to express your feelings toward your spouse and the truth is, we all long to be loved and appreciated for who we are, and desire to be forgiven for the times we blow it.

When you communicate your love in a way that is meaningful to your partner, it shows your commitment. Real, long-term relationships are built on a lot more than chemistry and compatibility. Commitment is the essential ingredient that keeps it all together. For those very reasons, it’s so important to assure your partner of your commitment each and every day. In order to do that, you will have to communicate it with sincerity, which brings me to today’s sharing.

Let me introduce you to Steven who has been my long time brother and friend, Steven and his wife got married couple years ago. Despite all those years passing by, Steven’s love for his wife has continued to flourish. Recently Steven showed us how committed he was toward his wife by taking the event of honouring that relationship back to the alter where it all started years ago.

Here I was in the Masai land escorting Steven and His wife to church to re instate those vows once again, what an amazing way to express your commitment toward your partner. Not only was it a commitment to his wife, it was also a commitment toward God and a declaration to the church. This was a way to express how anew he found his wife each day. This was a way to say ‘I didn’t just marry you five years ago, I am marrying you again today, for each day you are still new to me’.

Attending this exclusive event was a blessing and a lesson to me, it was the best way ever to show your partner how much you care and love them. It was a statement to say that ‘Not only am I loving you in my own ways, but I am loving you the way God expects me to love you’. Neither am I saying that the ways I have mentioned above are off the grid, each of us finds their own way to express how they feel about their partners, however this was the best way to show that commitment because it wasn’t only to the partner, it was also a commitment toward God who first loved us.

By sharing this, I hope that you and I learn a lesson especially on the ways we as Christians use to express our commitments in relationships and marriages. Whatever way you find to express it, remember God in the midst of it all, and love your partner the way God would expect you to.  If you truly love them don’t shy away from sharing your own emotions and the way you feel about them. Ways like this expresses respect, appreciation, honesty, trust, sacrifice, love and loyalty toward your spouse.  Always delight in your spouse and rejoice over them simply because of who they are, and love them just as God has loved you, this way you show sacrificial love.

Below I share some photos from the event, I hope you learn something from this, and may it be a blessing and a nutritious delight to the development of your relationship...

Should Your Religion Be Based On Your Feelings? Here is the answer..

Should a person decide what to believe based on his or her feelings or something that does not change with moods and circumstances? Big question! Imagine Jesus of Nazareth nailed up on the cross, dying for our sins. Suppose He said, “This is not fun. I am not feeling anything good up here. Let me off this cross. I expected good feelings, not this! Pain is not where it is at for Me. My commitment to die to pay the penalty for man’s sin is far beyond what I am feeling right now.” How would you have counseled Jesus when the bad pain hit Him? Feelings based religion is shaky. Commitments based on good feelings are subject to change any day. This unbiblical approach would make all our commitments very tentative, unpredictable, shaky. This includes: marriage, family, job and friends. A marriage vow would only mean, “I’ll stay with you as long as my good feelings last. I expect only good times, no bad ones.” Jesus did not bail out when the going got tough. Some beliefs a Christian should also...

The second necessary step in designing a successful nonprofit strategy is knowing your beneficiaries

Last week I started a series of blog posts on building a strong and successful strategy for your nonprofit and I started with mentioning the first necessary step you will need to examine before kicking off with your strategy. If you haven’t read that post, I recommend that you visit the article HERE before continuing with this one. Having familiarity with the first article will help you understand this one even much better. This week we are looking at the second step to take when designing your nonprofit strategy, and that step in designing and building a strong and successful strategy for your nonprofit is clearly knowing, stating, and understanding who your beneficiaries are. Some organizations talk about beneficiaries, others refer to participants, others to clients, service users or partners. Here we will refer to beneficiaries as the people whom your nonprofit seeks to benefit. The reason why many nonprofit strategies fail is because too often nonprofits and funders ignore the con...

Being set free by the master who holds the keys to life

After Jesus died on the cross He went down to hell, crushed the devil, and took the keys of life. The devil held us prisoners to fear of death, but now we are given the chance to enjoy eternal life with God the father. The greatest gift the human race can ever earn. It’s all free of charge to be set free, for the master has promised to do this free of charge to all those who desire to be free. If you have not yet accepted Christ, then you are still in a prison cell and you need to be freed from this. The only way that can happen is if you humble yourself and come to the master who has the keys to set you free. If you are in the devils prison, you can’t save yourself, not matter how good you think you are in escaping. You will never be able to escape until you let the master who took the keys set you free. You will try million ways and times, but I assure you, you will never succeed on your own. Many of you may say ‘well I am free’, I can assure you that you are only free in the flesh; ...
