Prayer is not about informing or persuading God, but about conversing and connecting with Him relationally. We believe God has approved of our prayer and released it to us in the spiritual realm; therefore, we never stop reminding Him of it and thanking Him for it. As we remind God of His promises with thanksgiving, we position ourselves to receive them in the natural world; however, in the journey of our prayer life we should always remember these three things:

Always pray with perseverance: 

One of the most difficult aspects of prayer is persevering when it seems that God is not answering. However, there is so much power to be found in a persevering prayer, and perseverance has been found to be the great test of genuineness in the Christian life. Prayers that are in God’s will are always answered in God’s timing and in God’s way, so do not give up too quickly or become discouraged if the answer to your prayer is delayed. When we give up on prayer we miss out on the joy, peace, and hope that comes from a strengthened relationship with God. However, when we begin to pray and we persevere in prayer because we are in a love relationship with God whether we get what we want or not, God strengthens us in our relationship with Him and we have the conviction that we can overcome all things if we entrust all into His loving hands. Always be joyful and never stop praying. Through persevering in prayer in each trying situation, praising God and believing in His goodness, we will build the character we need in order to receive all that God has for us without being overwhelmed. Whatever happens, keep thanking God because of Jesus Christ. This is what God wants you to do.

As the apostle Paul instructs us, we should “pray without ceasing” (1 Thess. 5:17).
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him. James 1:12

Praying in passion 

By drawing near to God, by remembering the promises of his Word, and by desiring with increasing anguish Christ’s kingdom to come, we grow more passionate in our prayer. If we are really praying passionately, we are asking God to move mountains, to swing open closed doors, to bring something out of nothing. God is calling us to live passionate lives for Christ! He is searching the earth for those whose hearts are upright before Him, who will lift up their voices unto Him with zeal and fervency. As we approach God’s throne of grace, we are to come boldly and confidently before Him, but not only that, we must also come with a type of humility and sincerity of heart that will get God’s attention. When we learn to pray with passion and sincerity we will see the kind of results that Elijah and Hannah received.  God will surely see us, hear us, and respond to us when we put fourth our best effort in prayer. When we pursue God with passion, we will encounter Him.  And that is where life transformation takes place, because it is impossible to encounter God and remain the same.  God is calling His people back to prayer in this hour. If we want our prayers to be answered, we must pray with passion. We have to pray out loud, pray with our body and pray with concentration.

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." Mark 12:30 

Praying in faith

In addition to praying with perseverance and passion, it is important to pray with faith, fully trusting that God will hear what we ask for and grant what we desire. Prayers of faith may be offered with the greatest confidence when we are seeking to bear spiritual fruit to the honour and glory of God, thus demonstrating the truth of Jesus' words recorded in John 15:16: "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit . . . so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.”

First, faith is drawn by the greatness of Jesus and driven by the greatness of our need. Second, faith keeps after Jesus, no matter what the obstacles. Third, faith agrees with Jesus, no matter what he says. Fourth, faith reasons with Jesus, using his own words. And fifth, faith gets Jesus' approval and blessing. Let's look at each of these. Pray in faith that God hears you, and keep praying for him to help you not worry. He can instantly take you from despair to joy – don’t give up!

Faith prays with assurance when God has made the outcome known, and Faith prays with submission when God has kept the outcome hidden.

God tells us in Jeremiah 33:3, "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know."

Praying in faith should mean believing that because of Jesus, God welcomes you and believing God is pleased with your request. Believing God is able to do what you ask, and He will either give you exactly what you are requesting or something even better.
