Genesis Chapter 1 Devotional Readings and Lessons Learned

I have committed myself into taking a devotional study in the whole book of genesis, going through each chapter and sharing my learned lessons with you. Today I started with Genesis chapter 1, and this is what I learned:

One of the greatest lessons I learned is that God is eternal and he knows everything. God’s mighty power is amazing! He created the whole universe by the word of his power. He created the heavens and earth, and he created you and me. Our God is nothing like the idol gods of the heathen.

The second lesson I’ve learned from Genesis Chapter 1 is that the earth and everything in it belongs to God. About every square inch of the universe God says, "It is mine." In fact, there is not a single thing in the entire universe about which God does not say "It is mine."It belongs to Him because He is the one who created it. Everything you and I see belongs to God, even you and I belong to him. Nothing that we own or see belongs to us, it all belongs to him. We are just stewards of what He has placed in our care. And we have been called to be good stewards of all that God has placed in our care.

This is true because, nothing that we own will ever make it to the grave with us, even if we accumulate so much wealth, one day we will have to leave this world and all that wealth will be left behind. Why? Because nothing really belongs to us, we are given what we have for the time being and later we return it to its true owner. Don't forget it all belongs to God and He has given or entrusted it to us. God, not us, is the source of wealth and success and financial prosperity.

“The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; (2) for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters.” Psalm 24:1-2

Psalm 24:1-2 confirms this; it tells us that the earth and all that is in it belongs to God. Man can never truly own anything from this world. This is why we are called to store up treasures in heaven. God is the owner because He is the Maker, the Creator, the Founder, the One Who formed heaven and earth and everything in them.

Therefore, this chapter gives me an opportunity to humble myself and give thanks for all that God has given me. It teaches me to be a good steward of all that God has placed under my care, and it reminds me that what I have is enough because God deems it to be enough for all that I need. God shall supply all my needs because all that I see belongs to him. God has entrusted many things to our care.

It burns in me a desire to live a life that glorifies him every day, for sure now I know that I belong to a mighty God, the owner of the whole universe. Everything that he created was good and at its Excellency, and I am called to strive to be the good in His creation as I have been designed to be so. I have learned that it is my duty to reflect the glory of God to others down here on earth.
God is the mighty and powerful creator and owner of everything in this universe including me, you, and all that we posses. We are stewards and should be thankful for that (1 Corinthians 4:2).

My Prayer after the reflection

"Lord God, teach me to be humble and a good steward of the things you’ve placed under my care. Stamp it on my heart that I may not pride myself and forget this beautiful truth. Remind me that I am yours and you are mine, and you’ve given me all that I have. Teach me to look after the beautiful world and everything you’ve created just for me to care for. Teach me to be content with and rejoice in what you have entrusted to me.Teach me to glorify you in everything I do on this earth. Lead me to you each day in an intimacy relationship that lasts forever.
Amen."

I challenge you to take this journey with me through the book of genesis and let me know what you lean, your thoughts will be very encouraging, and I firmly believe that God will speak to you through every chapter you read.

Should Your Religion Be Based On Your Feelings? Here is the answer..

Should a person decide what to believe based on his or her feelings or something that does not change with moods and circumstances? Big question! Imagine Jesus of Nazareth nailed up on the cross, dying for our sins. Suppose He said, “This is not fun. I am not feeling anything good up here. Let me off this cross. I expected good feelings, not this! Pain is not where it is at for Me. My commitment to die to pay the penalty for man’s sin is far beyond what I am feeling right now.” How would you have counseled Jesus when the bad pain hit Him? Feelings based religion is shaky. Commitments based on good feelings are subject to change any day. This unbiblical approach would make all our commitments very tentative, unpredictable, shaky. This includes: marriage, family, job and friends. A marriage vow would only mean, “I’ll stay with you as long as my good feelings last. I expect only good times, no bad ones.” Jesus did not bail out when the going got tough. Some beliefs a Christian should also...

The second necessary step in designing a successful nonprofit strategy is knowing your beneficiaries

Last week I started a series of blog posts on building a strong and successful strategy for your nonprofit and I started with mentioning the first necessary step you will need to examine before kicking off with your strategy. If you haven’t read that post, I recommend that you visit the article HERE before continuing with this one. Having familiarity with the first article will help you understand this one even much better. This week we are looking at the second step to take when designing your nonprofit strategy, and that step in designing and building a strong and successful strategy for your nonprofit is clearly knowing, stating, and understanding who your beneficiaries are. Some organizations talk about beneficiaries, others refer to participants, others to clients, service users or partners. Here we will refer to beneficiaries as the people whom your nonprofit seeks to benefit. The reason why many nonprofit strategies fail is because too often nonprofits and funders ignore the con...

Being set free by the master who holds the keys to life

After Jesus died on the cross He went down to hell, crushed the devil, and took the keys of life. The devil held us prisoners to fear of death, but now we are given the chance to enjoy eternal life with God the father. The greatest gift the human race can ever earn. It’s all free of charge to be set free, for the master has promised to do this free of charge to all those who desire to be free. If you have not yet accepted Christ, then you are still in a prison cell and you need to be freed from this. The only way that can happen is if you humble yourself and come to the master who has the keys to set you free. If you are in the devils prison, you can’t save yourself, not matter how good you think you are in escaping. You will never be able to escape until you let the master who took the keys set you free. You will try million ways and times, but I assure you, you will never succeed on your own. Many of you may say ‘well I am free’, I can assure you that you are only free in the flesh; ...
